Dundee FC Historical Trust has received a £3,000 donation from Persimmon Homes North Scotland to support its ongoing work preserving and promoting the club’s rich history.
Iain McGouldrick, Senior Land Manager at Persimmon North Scotland and lifelong Dens fan, joined Trust Chair Jim Mitchell, Karen Mitchell and Dundee FC Director Bob Hynd pitchside at Dens Park in November to present the cheque, as the Dark Blues marked the occasion with 3-1 win over St Mirren
Established in 2020 after supporters first came together the previous year to explore how best to safeguard the club’s heritage, the Trust was awarded charitable status by OSCR and operates independently of the football club with its full support. Its work focuses on acquiring, preserving, and sharing memorabilia, artefacts, photographs, and stories connected to Dundee FC, its players, staff, and loyal supporters. Much of the collection is made accessible for public and educational use, ensuring the club’s legacy can be enjoyed by future generations.
Iain McGouldrick, Senior Land Manager at Persimmon Homes North Scotland, said:
“Clubs with Dundee’s proud history deserve organisations dedicated to preserving that heritage, and the Trust does outstanding work to keep those stories alive.
“At Persimmon, we’re committed to supporting the communities where we build, and that means backing groups who protect local identity and bring people together. We’re delighted our donation will help the Trust continue its fantastic work.”
Bob Hynd, Director of Dundee FC, said:
“We are delighted to welcome representatives of Persimmon Homes to Dens, along with Jim & Karen Mitchell from Dundee F. C. Historical Trust. As a Club, we really appreciate the very generous donation made by Persimmon Homes. The work that the Historical Trust do in recording the Club’s history is very much appreciated by everyone at Dens and provides a huge archive of information available for supporters.”
The donation forms part of Persimmon’s Community Champions initiative, which sees each of the homebuilder’s 29 regional businesses donate up to £6,000 every quarter to local charities, community groups, and good causes.
Persimmon is currently building a new community in the city at its Stewarts Loan development on the site of the former Stewarts Cream of Barley factory on the Kingsway. The development has proved extremely popular with local buyers, with only a limited number of four-bedroom detached homes remaining for sale, priced from £277,000.
