Hibernian – 3/8/25 – Preview and Info

Dundee vs Hibernian

3/8/25

3pm kick-off

William Hill Premiership

Dens Park

Hibs travel to Dens Park for the first match of the 25/26 William Hill Premiership season. Hibs come into this season after a very successful 24/25 season where they finished third and secured European football. As a result of finishing third, they were drawn against Midtjylland in the second qualifying round of the Europa League. This tie ended in a narrow defeat for Hibs on Thursday night when a late goal in extra time for Midtjylland saw the Edinburgh side drop into the Europa Conference League.

When Hibs last visited Dens in November 2024, it was before Hibs’ fortunes changed and they soared up the league table. Dundee took advantage of the form of Hibs at the time and triumphed 4-1 over the Edinburgh side. The man of the match for Dundee on that day was Josh Mulligan. Josh will be at Dens for Sunday’s match, but is now wearing the green of Hibernian. After Josh’s Dundee contract came to an end in the summer, he made the decision to join the Hibees and could make his first league appearance for his new team against his former side.

Dundee come into this first league match of the season after playing four Premier Sports Cup matches, two friendly matches, and two behind-closed-doors matches. The Premier Sports Cup campaign did not go the way the club had hoped, with The Dee unable to qualify from their group, but now full attention turns to the league season. Sunday will be Head Coach Steven Pressley’s first league match in charge of the Dark Blues and will be the first league match for many of the new signings that have joined the club in the summer.

Team News

Charlie Reilly will miss the match through injury. Simon Murray will be assessed before Sunday’s match after picking up a knee knock in the match against Montrose.
