Hamilton Preview

After the international break the Dark Blues are back in action when they visit New Douglas Park to face hosts Hamilton Academical on Saturday afternoon.

Accies lost to Celtic in their last outing but previous to that they beat Motherwell and Kilmarnock and sit a point ahead of Dundee in fourth place in the Ladbrokes Premiership.

Greg Stewart has trained this week after recovering from the ankle injury which saw him leave the action early in the win over Motherwell at Dens in our last outing

LAST SEASON
In last season’s three encounters between the sides the points were shared equally, Dundee winning the first meeting at Dens in October 2014 by a 2-0 scoreline thanks to goals from David Clarkson and Greg Stewart.

Two months later came our most recent trip to New Douglas Park and goals from Tony Andreu and former Dee Mickael Antoine-Curier gave the home side a 2-0 half time lead, Greg Stewart pulled one back and Dundee laid siege to the Acciesí goal in the second period but couldnít find an equaliser.

The final meeting in January of this year at Dens saw new Hamilton player boss Martin Canning give the visitors the lead in 85 minutes, Accies had played much of the second half with ten men after Dougie Imrie was red carded, but Dundee grabbed a point thank to Greg Stewartís fantastic curling shot from the edge of the box with two minutes left.

CONNECTION
Christian Nade only started six games for Dundee (plus seven substitute appearances) but he is very fondly remembered by Dee fans – largely because two of his three goals in Dark Blue came during a vital week for the club. On 12 April 2014 Dundee visited Alloa with the Dark Blues having fallen behind Hamilton in the race for the automatic promotion spot with just two games of the season left, three minutes before half time the big man headed the Dee into the lead and by full time Dundee had regained top spot as Accies lost at Dumbarton.

Seven days later in front of a packed Dens Park he again headed the opener as Dundee beat Dumbarton to seal the title and spark jubilant celebrations.

Christian left Dens after that match and spent last season at Raith Rovers, he arrived at New Douglas Park in the summer and while he has largely been used off the bench he has opened his account in Accies colours, scoring against Raith in the League Cup and Dundee United in the league.
