They were two up on the stroke of half time, Declan Gallagher’s towering header from Nicky Riley’s corner giving John Brown’s men the space they fully deserved at the break.
Morton though were fighting for interim manager David Hopkin and Dougie Imrie pulled one back with an angled drive and they pressed for an equaliser, but Dundee held out to edge above Hamilton – having made up a six point gap in the space of two league games.
