Gavin to be inducted into Hall of Fame

The club are delighted to reveal that Gavin Rae will be inducted into the Dundee Football Club Hall of Fame this Friday.

Our ninth Hall of Fame event will take place this Friday at the Invercarse Hotel and we will once more be “Honouring the Past, Inspiring the Future” as Gavin along with four others will to join the 44 already in our Hall of Fame including such Dark Blue heroes as Alan Gilzean, Jocky Scott, Gordon Wallace, Ian Ure, Claudio Caniggia, Bob Shankly, Barry Smith and ‘Sir’ Bobby Cox.

Gavin who had three spells with the club, became just the 21st player in 120 years to reach his third century of games in dark blue during his career and his time at Dens saw him win the First Division, play in the Scottish Cup Final, score in the U.E.F.A. Cup and become Dundee’s first Scottish internationalist in fifteen years.

When Scotland manager Craig Brown was asked in a press conference why he had called up Dundee midfielder for an international friendly against Poland in Bydgoszcz in April 2001, he replied that it was because “he played for Dundee”. While he was attempting tongue in cheek to show his fondness for the club with whom he won a Scottish League Championship medal, Brown failed to give credit to the popular Dark Blue midfielder who was the first Dundee player to win a Scotland cap since Robert Connor had done so against the Netherlands in 1986.

Gavin, who now lives in Australia is flying back into Scotland and will be with us on Friday to receive his award.

Tickets are still available and are priced at £50 inc VAT per ticket or £450 inc VAT for a table of 10. If you would like further information or to book your place please email [email protected]
