Gary Bowyer appointed manager

Dundee Football Club are delighted to announce the managerial appointment of Gary Bowyer.

He joins the club today along with assistant manager Billy Barr.

Gary started his managerial career with Blackburn Rovers. After two caretaker spells in charge, he was given the job on a permanent basis in 2013.

He left the club after two years in charge and was appointed Blackpool boss in 2016. He guided them to promotion from League Two through the play-offs.

In 2019, he took charge at Bradford City and most recently was manager of Salford City. After a period in interim charge, he was made permanent manager in the summer of 2021 and worked alongside Billy.Β

Managing Director John Nelms said, β€œWe are delighted to welcome Gary and Billy to the club. At the start of the process, we set out with a job description and list of desired attributes that we wanted in a manager. It has taken time and patience along the way but we have brought someone in that ticked all of the boxes.”

β€œIt’s an exciting time for the club and we are looking forward to working with Gary and Billy.”

Technical Director Gordon Strachan said, β€œIt’s great to have Gary at the club. He is someone who ticked all the boxes during the process and that we feel can really drive the club forward. Now is the time for everyone to pull together and get right behind the manager and the team for the new season.”
