Dundee Football Club are excited to announce the signing of Bulgarian defender Plamen Galabov on a two-year deal, subject to international clearance and being granted the necessary visa.
The 6ft 2 central defender joins The Dee following the expiry of his contract with Israeli side Maccabi Petah Tiva.
The 29-year-old started his career with Bulgarian side FC Lovech, he then moved to CSKA Sofia and played 65 times for them. He then spent two seasons on loan at SFC Etar Veliko Tarnovo playing 46 times. Plamen then left Bulgaria and moved to Israel, first signing for Maccabi Netanya playing 66 times. In 2024 he then moved to Beitar Jerusalem for a short period of time before signing for Maccabi Petah Tiva later in 2024 and played 37 times.
Galabov has represented the Bulgarian national side on five occasions making his debut on the 3rd of September 2020 against the Republic of Ireland in the UEFA Nations League. His last appearance for the Bulgarian national side was in March 2023 against Hungary.
Speaking after signing for Dundee Plamen said, “From my first impressions here it seems like everyone is like a family and it made me feel very warm. I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone. Everything happened very fast, a week ago my agent told me of the interest from the club, I started to read more about the country and then I accepted very quickly this opportunity.
“After four years in Israel, I had found my comfort zone and when I found out about the interest from Dundee I wanted to come to Scotland. I want to challenge myself and see how far I can go.
“I always try to be a team player, for me it’s very important to try and help my teammates around me. As a defender, it is important to communicate a lot and to be calm as that helps the players around you.”
Welcome to The Dee Plamen!
