SPFL Championship Winners Celebration

The Dark Blue side of the city will get the chance to cheer Dundee FC on Sunday (May 11) at a special ceremony in City Square.

Supporters and well wishers will be able to see the SPFL Championship trophy displayed from the City Chambers balcony and join in the celebrations with the players and management.

Lord Provost Bob Duncan said: “I am extremely proud of the team’s efforts throughout a long and often hard fought league campaign.

“For Dundee to come out on top is a brilliant achievement for the players, the club, all of the backroom staff at Dens and indeed for the city of Dundee.

“So it is fitting that the team should be invited to the civic heart of the city to mark this occasion and give fans and well wishers a chance to join in.”

The celebrations will let as many fans as possible see the team with the cup and with the anticipated level of interest expected to be high, fans are asked to come early for the best possible vantage point.

Scot Gardiner, Chief Executive Officer from Dundee FC said: “We are honoured to accept this invitation from the Lord Provost and delighted to be able to give families the chance to celebrate in the City Square with the team on Sunday. We are sure it will be a colourful occasion”.

Event Sunday May 11 2014 12pm Pre-event entertainment in the city centre. 12.45pm Arrival of the team at City Square. 1pm The Lord Provost will welcome the team and officials and the trophy will be presented to supporters from the City Chambers balcony.

Operational Issues City Centre: • Access to City Square will be stewarded and numbers will be restricted on safety grounds. • An area for wheelchair users will be provided in the South West corner of City Square. • Fist Aid and lost children facilities will be located at 18 City Square – For more information  – click here
