Dundee Academy Success

Everyone at Dundee Football Club would like to congratulate the Dundee Academy for a fantastic Saturday.
Three of Dundee’s Academy teams were in action today and all three have claimed trophies.

It started off at the Falkirk Stadium with the Under 13’s CAS Cup Final between Dundee and St Johnstone. The young Dees ran out 4-0 winners with goals from Ruairi Green, Bobby Gillespie, Franklin Frimpong Owusu and Sonny Forbes. A great win for our under 13’s.

Staying at the Falkirk Stadium it was then the turn of our under 16’s who were taking on Celtic in the CAS Cup Final. Celtic took the lead and led by one at half-time. But an incredible second half performance saw the Dees score four goals. The goals came from Ethan Crombie and a hat-trick from Travis Boyd. Celtic got a goal back, but it wasn’t enough and Dundee triumphed 4-2.

The other Dundee Academy team in action were playing in London in the under 8’s Hale End Cup hosted by the Arsenal Academy. The youngest Dees in action today started by winning their group which contained Bristol City, Anderlecht and Shamrock Rovers. They then played Aston Villa and The Seagulls in the quarter-finals and then the semi-finals. It was then a final against French side RC Lens which they won.

A wonderful day for the Dundee Academy and Dundee Football Club. A massive congratulations to all the players from these teams, coaches and all staff involved with the Academy.
