Dundee 3-3 Hibernian | Match Report | 28/02/2026

DUNDEE VS HIBERNIAN MATCH REPORT, DENS PARK, 28 FEBRUARY 2026

Steven Pressley said he “couldn’t be prouder” of his players as Cameron Congreve’s magnificent curler earned Dundee a hard fought 3-3 draw with Hibernian at Dens Park.

The draw keeps the Dee in ninth place—but results elsewhere in the league leave the Dens Park side two points off seventh-placed Dundee United and one point off eighth-placed Aberdeen.

The Dundee head coach fielded an unchanged starting lineup from the win at Pittodrie, while Hibs made one change with Dane Scarlett replacing Martin Boyle up front.

Ashley Hay and Joe Westley made their way back to the bench after recovering from injuries.

The Dark Blues had the first early chance, as a floated cross from Imari Samuels just missed Simon Murray and Cameron Congreve, with the resulting corner headed over the bar.

While Dundee had early possession of the ball, a lapse in concentration lead to a good Hibs move down the left-hand side. A good cross from Nicky Cadden found ELDING, who headed the ball past Jon McCracken.

The lead did not last long however, as a long ball from Luke Graham over the top from found the feet of MURRAY. The skipper’s quick feet cut inside Rocky Bushiri on the edge of the box, with his deflected shot finding the bottom left corner past Hibs keeper Raphael Sallinger.

It was Murray’s fourth goal in three games, as the skipper continues his strong run of form in February.

Tony Yogane’s quick feet inside the box led to the Brentford man dribbling past his man and driving in a low shot. A good save from Sallinger with an outstretched boot means the Englishman will have to keep waiting for his first Dee goal.

The Dark Blues kept pushing as several dangerous crosses threatened the Hibs defence crosses but ultimately were not connected with.

What should have been a simple collection from Sallinger became a moment of horror for Hibs supporters in the stadium, as the Hibernian keeper failed to collect the ball as it rolled under his legs. Quick thinking from the Hibernian defence led to the ball going out for a Dundee corner, of which Yan Dhanda’s following bouncing volley came just short of finding the target.

Tony Yogane kept showing his quality, terrorising the Hibs defence and drawing several fouls. A well-worked free-kick lead to Dhanda receiving the ball on the edge of the box, his low driven shot going just wide of the left-hand post.

The Edinburgh-side almost hit the front as a well-worked corner was caught by Sallinger and lead to a Hibernian counter. Yan Dhanda’s poor attempt at a clearance in the box ends up with the ball at the feet of Elding, who blazed hit shot over the bar and spoiled a golden opportunity for the Edinburgh side.

The second half began with Hibs threatening with a number of dangerous balls into the Dundee box. A cross by Jack Iredale found Felix Passlack, who headed over the bar.

Substitutions were in order for both sides at the midway point of the second half, as Ante Suto replaced Dane Scarlett and Finlay Robertson took the place of Joel Cotterill.

A corner in the 72nd minute failed to beat the first man but ended up back in the feet of Drey Wright. Dundee’s number seven floated a great cross back into the box which met the feet of the incoming Luke GRAHAM, who slid and poked the ball into the net for his second goal of the season.

Both sides seemed unable to keep a hold of the ball for long. With five minutes of normal time remaining, a long ball over the top from Boyle found SUTO unmarked. The substitute kept his cool with a brilliant first touch and slid the ball passed Jon McCracken.

What looked to be a hard-fought draw turned to a nightmare for the Dee five minutes later. As Dundee stuck back to defend, Jamie MCGRATH cut inside and fired a low shot into McCracken’s near post. The outstretched arm of Dundee’s number one was no match, and the visitors looked to have sealed a dramatic win late on.

Football, however, will always be a game of fine margins and played to the final whistle. Deep into stoppage time, the ball finds CONGREVE on right side of the box. The Welshman cut inside and unleashed a curler past Sallinger to Dens Park’s delight.

It was to be the last touch of the match, wrapping up an afternoon in which Dundee will be ruing not staying ahead after Graham’s goal but proud of their ability to dig in.

Dundee next face Motherwell on Saturday 7 March at Dens Park and will hope to keep making inroads for seventh place before the split.
