Development Dee beaten at Killie

Dundee lost out to Kilmarnock in the Development League at a rainy Rugby Park on Tuesday night, both the home side’s goals coming in the second half.

After two months out injured, Dens keeper Kyle Letheren made his comeback in an otherwise youthful Dark Blues team.

Dundee had a penalty claim turned down when Lee Cameron clashed with keeper Devlin Mackay and Josh Skelly had a low drive saved by the Killie keeper, but there was nothing much between the sides in a scoreless first half.

However, two minutes into the second period Killie took the lead when Jack Whittaker’s cross caught out the Dundee defence, leaving Adam Frizell to tap the ball into the net.

Craig Wighton carved out a chance for the visitors but seemed to slip on the point of shooting and, five minutes from the end, Dylan Pooler wrapped up the points when he grabbed a second for the home side.

Dundee: Letheren, Black (Skelly 30, Gallacher 70), Warwick (L Gibb 20), Allan, Colquhoun, Gemmell, Cameron, Carreiro, Wighton, Cunningham, Avolio. Subs not used: Gourlay, Tough.

Kilmarnock: Mackay, Thomson, Lidington, Taylor, Hodge, Syme, Pooler, Hawkshaw, Whittaker, McLean (Wilson 77, Clark 89), Frizzell (Hogg 65). Sub not used: Millar.
