John Black’s second half goal was enough to give Dundee their second 1-0 win over Dunfermline in the SPFL Development League this season.
After an even first half the Dundee midfielder was played in after only two minutes of the second period and effortlessly lifted the ball over Pars goalkeeper Cammy Gill.
Dunfermline had the best of the opening period of the match with three corners which saw headers flash just wide of Kyle Gourlay’s goal. When Dundee’s first chance came it was via a defensive error.
Ryan Gemmell’s cross from the right wasn’t clear properly and Black nipped in to head wide when he should have hit the target.
There wasn’t alot of chances before the break with the best of them coming when Connor Duthie drove into the area for the home side but he was met by the outrushing Gourlay who denied to Dunfermline striker.
After the break, Sean Gallacher found Black with a inch perfect ball over the top, Black waited for his moment before lifting it over Gill to give Dundee the lead.
The weather changed for the worst and with the rain lashing down The Pars looked to get on level terms. They ended as they had began with a number of corners right on top of Gourlay but the Dundee captain dealt with everything thrown at him to secure the three points for Dundee.
