Defeat to Celtic in Development league

Dundee came up against a strong Celtic side at Cappielow last night in the SPFL Development League.

Despite taking the lead and holding their on throughout the match the Glasgow side ran out 2-1 winners at the home of Greenock Morton.

Eddie Johnson’s side included overage players Nicky Low and Kosta Gadzhalov, as well as Andy Black and Matty Allan who are both currently out on Development loan.

Celtic themselves included a number of first teamers with Anthony Stokes, Nadir Ciftci, Callum McGregor and Scott Allan all in the starting eleven.

Dundee took the lead through top scorer Josh Skelly after only seven minutes. The young striker with a neat finish after Sam Dryden had headed the ball down.

Kyle Gourlay was in fine form in the Dundee goal saving from Ciftci and Tierney before Dundee almost added a second.

Gadzhalov meeting a corner with a header which came back off the post.

Celtic drew level five minutes before the break when McGregor turned home after a cut back from the left.

Nesbitt hit the bar early in the second half for Celtic and a couple of minutes later found the net to put the home side in front. Drilling the ball in after coming in from the right.

Gourlay continued to keep Celtic at bay and other than a Gadzhalov strike Celtic managed to see the game out and take all three points.

Dundee – Gourlay, A. Black, Gibb (Priest), Gadzhalov, Allan, Curran, Low (Berry), Dryden, Colquhoun, Trialist, Skelly (J. Black).
