Davidson and Reid leave club

Dundee FC can announce this afternoon that Iain Davidson and Jamie Reid have left the club by mutual consent.

Jamie came through the youth ranks at Dens and burst onto the scene when his debut winning goal against Livingston at Dens gave Dundee the points required to finish second in the then 1st Division.

The circumstances surrounding Rangers meant that this was enough for Dundee get promoted to the SPL.

Jamie had loan spells with Stenhousemuir and Montrose while also playing a part in the first four matches of last years SPFL Championship title winning season. This season he has spent time out on loan again at Stenny and most recently Elgin City where he scored four times.

Iain joined the club the season after Jamie had netted against Livingston and has spent three seasons at Dens.

He was a regular in his first season in the top flight, turning out in central midfield, he scored his first goal for the club with a cracker away to Ross County.

The following season, he was used more at the back as John Brown converted Davo to a centre half. A regular at in the heart of the defence as Dundee went on to win the title, he scored vital goals away to Hamilton and in a 1-0 victory over Queen of the South at Dens.

His chances this year have been limited, but he netted another important goal as Dundee came from behind to win at St. Mirren before he picked up a nasty gash to his foot which kept him out of action for just over two months.

We would like to wish Iain and Jamie all the best for the future and thank them for their efforts while at Dens.
