Interim Manager Neil McCann saw his side end a run of defeats with a hard fought 3-2 victory at Fir Park and declared after the match, “I couldn’t be prouder of the players.”
Neil went on to add, “We have put high demands on them this week, high demands on them today. We knew Motherwell would just put balls into the box and I trusted them cause I worked all week in very strict circumstances on how we defend, backs to the wall but they came through for me.”
There was more than double the amount of travelling fans from the last visit to Fir Park and they got right behind the team from the off, Neil praised the Dundee support saying, “The backing from the fans was outstanding and the boys fed off it, I fed off it and we’ll have to continue doing that for the next four games.”
“They were probably a wee bit more nervous than they were in that handsome victory but I think it’s as big a three points as we’ve had. Looking at the time of the season and the stage we are at, for a team that has lost seven on the bounce, to come back and lift themselves off the floor, coming away from home as well, that’s just remarkable.”
“It tells me that what I said in my first press conference about believing in the players and that they were good enough, that just confirms it to me.”
