Dundee Football Club are excited to announce the signing of Cameron Congreve on a season-long loan deal from Swansea City.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has been with Swansea City since the age of nine and has worked his way through the ranks and into the first team. Congreve made his first-team debut for Swansea at the age of 18 in the English Championship against Blackpool in 2022. He has gone on to make 19 appearances for the Swans.
Last season, Congreve had his first loan spell away from Swansea, where he joined League Two side Bromley. It was an extremely successful loan spell for the young midfielder, where he played 47 times, scored 6 goals and had 7 assists in all competitions. One of his goals came in the FA Cup at St James’ Park against Newcastle United.
Cameron has also represented the Welsh National team at many levels, under 15s, 16s, 18s, 19s and 21s. He has 6 caps for the Under 21’s with his debut coming against Denmark in June 2023.
Speaking after joining Dundee, Cameron said, “It feels amazing, I’m absolutely delighted to be here and I can’t wait to get started. It’s been going on for quite a few months, and I’ve known about it for a while. I went back to Swansea for pre-season, and then I was allowed to go out on loan, and then it all happened quite quickly. I spoke with the gaffer, assistant and Gordon, and then I was here, a day later.
“The Zoom call was really impressive, the amount of detail they went into, in terms of training, games, breaking things down and how they want to play. Every aspect they covered was really impressive, and I made up my mind straight away.
“I played quite a lot last year, and I just want to continue that, but most importantly, I just want to help the team as much as possible.
“I’m a player who likes to score goals, create goals. I like to excite and just get forward. I try and beat players, combine with my teammates and just make things happen.”
Cam will wear the number 20 jersey for Dundee.
