Dundee Football Club would like to bring some clarity to the situation which necessitated the closure of the South Enclosure last night.
It became apparent in late afternoon that there was an issue with water supply. Maintenance and ground staff attempted to get to the bottom of the problem and it eventually became apparent that the supply loss issue originated from out with the Stadium and was therefore beyond the direct control of the club.
Scottish Water were contacted and undertook to investigate as soon as possible but could give no undertaking regarding reinstatement of supply.
The club was faced with a dilemma and a decision to make.
After considering all options and weighing up the service, safety and security issues it was decided to close the South Enclosure for the Friday evenings match and to relocate the ticket holders to section A, B and C of the Main Stand. The club realise that this would not be a universally popular decision but would ask supporters to understand that the decision was made with the safety and wellbeing of all spectators in mind.
The club would wish to commend all of the supporters involved for their cooperation and forbearance in this matter.
Scottish water are still investigating the problem and at the conclusion of the match, supply had still not been restored. They have indicated to the club that they hope to restore supply as soon as possible.
