Alex joins on loan

Dundee FC are delighted today to announce that Alex Harris has joined the club on loan from Hibernian.

Alex made his professional debut with Hibs against Dundee at Easter Road in 2012. He was the star of the show alongside ex Dee Leigh Griffiths in the 2013 Scottish Cup Semi Final, sparking Hibs back into life with a fine goal at Hampden as they came from 3-0 down to eventually win 4-3 in extra time against Falkirk. After scoring the first, Alex set up Leigh for the second to bring them back into the match.

An ankle injury kept him out of the first part of the 2013/14 season but he still managed to rack up 20 appearances. Alex has featured 16 times for Hibs this season.

Manager Paul Hartley told us of his delight to secure the signing, “I’m delighted that Alex has joined the club, he is someone that gives us something different and will go right into the squad for Sunday’s match.”

As Alex arrives from Hibs, Martin Boyle has joined the Edinburgh side on loan.

Martin joined Dundee from Montrose in 2012 and re-joined the Links Park side on loan where he scored 9 goals in 14 games to finish the season.

Last season he was a regular in the Dundee side as they went on to win the SPFL Championship. Martin scored his first goal for the club at the perfect time. Six minutes into Paul Hartley’s first game in charge against title rivals Hamilton, Boyle found the net which was enough to give Dundee all three points.

His second for the club turned out to be just as vital. Again against Hamilton, this time down at New Douglas Park he scored the opener in a 1-1 draw. The following week he netted a double in a 4-0 win over Cowdenbeath.

He has made 22 appearances for Dundee this season.
