Dundee FC Youth Academy Star Takes a Leap of Faith for The Dundee Academy CIC
Young Footballer’s Bungee Jump to Support The Dundee Academy CIC
Courage and community spirit are set to converge as Dundee FC Youth Academy’s rising star, 15-year-old Ethan Flynn, prepares to take a leap of faith to raise funds for The Dundee Academy CIC. In an extraordinary show of bravery and commitment to a cause close to his heart, Ethan will be participating in a bungee jump from The Highland Fling Bungee jump is a free-fall experience of 40 metres towards water from a platform suspended below the Garry bridge over the River Garry near Pitlochry. An airborne flight of a few seconds at over 50 mph before a special Bungee jump cord springs you back to normal, upright, life.
A Leap for a Greater Cause
Ethan, a budding left back, is stepping out of his comfort zone and reaching new heights—literally. The young defender has been inspired to support The Dundee Academy CIC, a local community interest company dedicated to providing equitable access to football and sports for children and families from marginalized and diverse backgrounds.
“The Dundee Academy CIC does amazing work in our community, and I wanted to do something special to support them,” Ethan said. “The bungee jump is going to be a huge challenge, but it’s nothing compared to the challenges some kids face every day. If I can help make a difference, then it’s all worth it.”
Supporting Diverse Groups
The Dundee Academy CIC focuses on helping various groups, including children living in poverty, children with neurodiverse conditions, looked after and care experienced children, and children from minority groups. The organization also works to build the capacity of coaches to work effectively with children from these backgrounds, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to thrive in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Fundraising Goals
Ethan has set an ambitious fundraising goal of £200, with all proceeds going directly to The Dundee Academy CIC. These funds will be used to provide free or subsidised access to football training, specialized coaching, mentorship programs, and family support initiatives. The aim is to discover, develop, and deploy young talent into appropriate football or sporting pathways, fostering personal growth and social inclusion.
Community Support
Ethan’s bungee jump has already garnered significant support from the local community, his teammates, and Dundee FC. The club’s management has praised Ethan’s dedication and encouraged fans to rally behind this noble cause.
“We are incredibly proud of Ethan for taking this initiative,” said Dundee FC Youth Academy Director, Jamie McBrearty. “His commitment to supporting The Dundee Academy CIC exemplifies the values we strive to instill in all our players—leadership, empathy, and community spirit. We encourage everyone to support Jamie and this fantastic cause.”
