Aberdeen Preview

Dundee look set to be without a number of first team players as we travel to take on SPFL Premiership leaders Aberdeen this weekend.

Paul Hartley has injury worries over seven players on top of a suspension to Paul McGowan for the trip north.

McGowan picked up a one game suspension when he went over the booking tally in the recent Dundee derby so will miss out on the trip to Pittodrie.

On the injury front, Kyle Letheren still hasn’t returned to training, there is hope he will do some light work this Friday but he’ll miss out on the Aberdeen match. Gary Irvine and James McPake have suffered rib injuries, while Kevin McBride (thigh), Simon Ferry (ankle), and Jim McAlister (groin) are also doubtful.

Another doubt is David Clarkson who has been described as touch and go by the manager. He picked a ankle knock in training earlier this week and hasn’t trained since.

Aberdeen have been on a tremendous run of late and currently sit four points ahead at the top of the league. Their defensive record since the clubs last met is phenomenal with Dundee last minute goal against them in the William Hill Scottish Cup back in November the last goal they conceded.

However, Dundee will look to test that strong defence and boost and impressive record of scoring in each of the last 19 league games.

Last weekend, The Dee were too strong for Motherwell, running out 4-1 winners at Dens. Alex Harris opened the scoring, before Greg Stewart and Gary Irvine found the net in the first 45 minutes. The scoring was complete when Mark O’Brien turned into his own net during the second half.
