Vs St Mirren U20

The U20s got back to winning ways in the Development League, coming from behind to beat St Mirren 3-1. After falling behind to Connor McBrearty’s header, Max Anderson levelled the tie before half time. In the second half, an own goal from McBrearty and Matty Henvey’s header secured the win for Dundee.

The Dees were seeing most of the ball in the opening stages, but Randy Wolters swerving shot from 30 yards was their only noteworthy effort as the Saints defence stood firm.

With 17 minutes gone, St Mirren took the lead when Sam Jamieson headed a free kick to the back post, and Connor McBrearty scrambled the ball into the net.

The lead would prove to be short lived when Max Anderson won the ball high up the pitch 11 minutes later. The Dundee forward made no mistake with a cool finish past Chris Henry.

Matty Henvey was denied twice in quick succession after 35 minutes. The striker seeing his initial effort blocked by Andrew McDonald, and then his snap shot was pushed away by Hendry.

Henvey passed up a golden opportunity minutes after the restart. Wolters supplied the pass, but Henvey could only shoot wide from inside the box.

With 13 minutes remaining, Dundee went ahead. Jesse Curran’s free kick from the left was met by a sliding McBrearty, who in an attempt to clear the ball, sliced it up into the air, and over the helpless Hendry.

A Curran free kick provided Dundee’s third of the night. The Australian’s ball from the right was headed home by Henvey to complete the scoring, and wrap up the points for Dundee.
