Danny Johnson’s third minute goal was enough to give Dundee victory in the Reserve Cup group section against Greenock Morton this afternoon.
The striker turned on the edge of the box before hitting home off the underside of the bar to give Dundee the lead early in the match.
A strong Dundee team which included Cammy Kerr, Andrew Nelson and Josh Todd had the better of the chances throughout the match.
Morton did almost draw level in the first half but for a fantastic double save from Calum Ferrie.
After the break, Nelson, Callum Moore and Max Anderson all came close with substitute Anderson hitting the post in the dying minutes.
Starting line up – Ferrie, Kerr (Anderson), L. Strachan, Mulligan, Fisher, Robertson, Todd, Moore, Nelson (Dow), Johnson, Cunningham.
Unused Subs – Sharp, Cameron, McGrath.
