Match Preview – Hearts

Dundee v Heart of Midlothian

Sunday 27th August – 3pm Kick-Off

Kilmac Stadium

cinch Premiership

After no match last weekend Dundee return to action this weekend as we host Hearts in the cinch Premiership. The match now takes place on Sunday due to Hearts’ involvement in the Europa Conference League. The Dee have so far played two matches in the top flight this season drawing one and losing one and will be looking to try and take points from Sunday’s match. However, Hearts will prove a tough opposition with the Jambos still unbeaten domestically so far this season. On Thursday they played their first leg of their Europa Conference League Play-off tie against Greek side PAOK and currently trail 2-1 going into the second leg next Thursday in Greece.

The last meeting between the sides was on 9th February 2022 in the cinch Premiership where The Dee triumphed 2-1 at Tynecastle.

Tony’s thoughts

“It’s going to be a difficult game. Hearts are a good side. They are at that level for a reason – good players with lots of strength and depth. We’ll prepare for it like any other game to try to win the match and get our game plan over them. Home matches are important to me, and I think the advantage we get at home with a crowd is fantastic. The fans have been fantastic every home game. We need more of the same against a strong Hearts team.”

Joe Shaughnessy

“It should be a good game, another tough game. In our first two performances, we should have gotten more out of them games, but we’ll be looking to put that right this weekend. Hearts will bring a good support with them and there will be a great atmosphere. We’ll give as good as we get, and I think we will well be able to handle ourselves.
