Tomorrow’s match between Dundee and Inverness is the last group stage match in this year’s competition. After Saturday’s results, The Dee now know what is required of them to qualify for the last 16 of the competition, they must beat Inverness by at least two clear goals or more to progress as one of the best placed second teams. On Saturday Airdrieonians tied up top spot in the group after they beat Bonnyrigg. It means Inverness go into the match knowing they can’t progress in the Viaplay Cup this year, but they will be determined to go into their league campaign next weekend on a high.
Tony’s thoughts
“It’s a difficult game come Sunday. We’ve got a tough opponent in Inverness – Scottish Cup Finalists last year. Billy Dodds is a good pal of mine, so I know what his teams are like, and he sets them up well. We are under no illusions – it’s going to be a difficult game. I am pleased that as the game went on against Dumbarton that we got better, and the players will take a lot of confidence from that into Sunday against Inverness.”
