Five Star Development Dee

A five-star performance from Dundee kept their Development League title hopes alive as they beat Partick Thistle 5-1.

Cedwyn Scott opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Kerr Waddell, Craig Wighton, Jack Lambert and Callum Moore all netted in the second half.

After a lacklustre opening, Dundee went ahead after 20 minutes. Cedwyn Scott was taken down by Partick keeper Jamie Stevenson, and he made no mistake with the resulting spot kick.

Dundee were dominating possession but didn’t test Stevenson in the Partick goal. Craig Wighton latched onto a Jack Lambert cross but saw his volley drift wide of the target.

Partick drew level 11 minutes after the restart through Connor Higgins. James Stokes provided the cut back, and Higgins fired home at the second attempt from close range.

Dundee were back in front three minutes later, thanks to Kerr Waddell. The defender hit a dipping free kick from 25 yards that nestled in the bottom corner.

Less than a minute later, the Dee had the ball in the net again. Wighton cut in from the left and blasted a shot past Stevenson.

Lambert added the fourth five minutes later when he fired home after a clever pass from Scott.

Dundee were in cruise control, and nearly extended their lead when Waddell met a Callum Moore corner, but he headed over.

Moore found the net in spectacular fashion when he unleashed a half volley from 30 yards that found the top corner via the underside of the bar.

Dundee controlled possession in the final stages, and claimed the three points that cut Hibs lead at the top of the table to three points.
