Viaplay Cup Group Stages

Dundee return to the Kilmac Stadium tomorrow night for the first time since 28th April as we face Dumbarton in the Viaplay Cup. It’s manager Tony Docherty’s first match at home in front of the Dundee support. The Dee will be looking to bounce back after Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Airdrieonians in the Viaplay and know that a win is essential if they are to qualify for the last 16 of the competition.

Dumbarton are also looking to do the same and are currently on five points after three matches. Tomorrow night is their final group match and know they will need a victory if they are going to progress in the competition. On Saturday after 90 minutes they were goaless against Bonnyrigg but they won 4-3 on penalties earning a bonus point. This followed up their 2-1 win against Inverness last Tuesday. Like Dundee, Dumbarton also suffered defeat to Airdrieonians.

Team News

Tyler French and Charlie Reilly are still recovering from injuries. Luke McCowan is suspended for this match after picking up two yellow cards in the first two matches.

Stuart Taylor

“We know all about Dumbarton, and I know Stephen Farrell very well from his younger days – I know how thorough he is. He looks at his tactics and how they’re going to play and the way they do play. They are very good at it. They’ve got some good players in there and they play to their strengths. We know it’s going to be a tough game, but we need to make sure we are on the front foot and we are ready for the game, which we will be.”

Zach Robinson

“I am expecting Dumbarton to turn up, hungry to win. They’re good on the ball and are going to play at a very good level, and its not going to be easy, but we will do our best and get the win.”
