Dundee Reserves 1 – 0 Dunfermline Reserves
29/8/23
SPFL Reserve League
North End Park
Dundee Reserves got their Reserve League campaign underway as they hosted Dunfermline Athletic at North End Park.
It was a good opportunity for a number of senior players to get important game time. Adam Legzdins played 90 minutes in goal, while Tyler French got another 90 minutes under his belt as he makes his recovery from long-term injury. Charlie Reilly who has yet to feature for the first team due to injury played 77 minutes on the attacking left side before being replaced by Rayan Mohammed.
After making his Dundee debut towards the end of Sunday’s match against Hearts, midfielder Mo Sylla started for the reserve side and looked very comfortable in the middle of the park. It was Sylla who got the only goal of the game. After a Dundee attack where several shots had been blocked the ball broke to Sylla who drilled the ball past the keeper and into the net.
Dunfermline had a number of good chances in the first half but were denied by Legzdins.
Sylla was replaced as the teams came out for the second half by Lewis Craik. The second half saw fewer chances for both sides with the game mainly being played in the middle of the park. Charlie Reilly had three free kicks in dangerous positions and had two shots on targets from the set pieces.
Luke Graham captained the side and played in the centre of defence alongside Tyler French, putting in a confident display.
Legzdins again kept the Pars out in the second half with a commanding performance.
With nine minutes from time, Finlay Allan replaced Euan Mutale upfront.
The match ended 1-0 to The Dee, starting the reserves league with three points.
