Dundee went down 4-1 to league leaders Ross County in the SPFL Development League on Tuesday afternoon.
Jimmy Boyle welcomed back Matty Smyth and Conor Quigley from international duty, they were included alongside Craig Wighton and Cammy Kerr in the young Dundee line up.
Hosts County, included a number of senior players with Chris Burke and Ryan Dow both starting the match.
In difficult conditions at the Highland Football Academy, Dundee took the lead after just 10 minutes. A counter attack saw the ball end up with Wighton in the box who squared for Jesse Curran to turn home.
The Dark Blues went into the break a goal to the good but it was to be County would ran out winners thanks to a second half in which saw them hit the net four times.
Before the goals, County had a number of chances with Dow and Maclver coming close. The latter did find the net just after the hour mark when he fired into the top corner from 20 yards out.
The goals came fast for the home side soon after with two in a minute. Tumilty put County ahead before Maclver again found the net from outside of the box.
County sealed the victory with nine minutes to go when Maclver lifted the ball over Kyle Gourlay for his hat trick.
