Dee exit Youth Cup in extra time

Dundee were knocked out of the Youth Cup after extra time by Heart of Midlothian on Friday evening.

Preparation for the match for Scott Robertson’s side was less than ideal as due to illness and injury the young Dundee side were forced to start 14 year old goalkeeper Luca Ferguson with no back up on the bench.

Dundee has a couple of early efforts but it was the hosts who took the lead. Aidan Denholm converting from 12 yards after the referee had pointed to the spot for a trip.

10 minutes later Dundee were level. After good work by Cammy Dow, he crossed for Lyall Cameron to turn home.

The second period brought no goals and the match headed into extra time.

The home side ended with ten men after Leeroy Makovora was sent off late in the match for reacting.

Dundee – Ferguson, Kemlo (Joyce), Strachan, Hornyik, Murray, White (Lamb), Mulligan, Fleming, (Mansouri), Dow (Duell), Cameron, McGrath.
