Cammy Kerr sat down with the club’s media team and reflected on last season’s Cinch Championship title win and looked forward to the season ahead.
On signing his new deal: “I am delighted. Obviously come the end of the season, with everything that happened going up, I think it was very important for me to get a new deal signed. And now I’m looking forward to playing in the premiership this season.
“It’s no secret how much I love the club and that’s important to me. Growing up and being a supporter, to be here for so long, and to then extend my stay for another two years, I’m so happy.”
On winning the Championship: “It was amazing. The last couple of games before the end of the season were so tight and there was a lot of uncertainty. But to do it in that style at the end of the season was great.
“I think the Sunday was probably one of my favourite moments of the weekend, obviously winning the league is the best bit, but going down on that Sunday and seeing all the fans in the city square was incredible. The weather wasn’t the best, it was a cloudy day, but it was a great turnout.”
On the season ahead: “The ambition I think is obviously to consolidate our position in the league. I think especially coming up from the Championship, and that’s the main focus. But again, long term we know where the club should be. That’s up to the group of players, the staff and everyone connected to the club to make sure that we do that.
“The attitude is so important coming in every day to your work with a positive attitude, wanting to be the best you can be. The players need to have that attitude every single day, need to have that work ethic, training every day to be the best you can be, and to get better or to push everyone else on.”
On the new manager: “I’ve spoken with the manager a few times in the past and through the times I have spoken with him, he has been brand new. I’ve spoken with people recently on my coaching badges that speak so highly of him, so I am excited to get going.”
A message for the Dundee supporters: “My message would be, come in your numbers like you always have done, be positive with us and get behind the team like you always have. Because as I say, we want to do our best for the football club and we want to repay you for all the faith you showed in us, especially last season through tough times. Now it’s about probably going in a new direction and we need everyone with us and I’m sure they will be there right behind us.”
