Bonnyrigg Rose v Dundee
Tuesday 18th July – 7:45 pm
New Dundas Park
Viaplay Cup Group Stages
On Tuesday night The Dee play their first competitive match of the 23/24 season as we take on Bonnyrigg Rose in the Viaplay Cup. Spirits are high after a successful pre-season which saw Dundee play 5 matches, win 5, score 14 and only concede 3 goals.
It will be Tony Docherty’s first competitive match as Dunded manager and will also see several summer signings make their competitive debut for the club.
Although this is Dundee’s first match of the Viaplay group stages, Bonnyrigg played on Saturday in the competition away to Inverness CT where they were defeated by 2 goals to 1.
Team News
Tyler French and Charlie Reilly are still recovering from injuries. Jordan McGhee and Scott Tiffoney have returned to full training and are available for selection. Diego Pineda and Antonio Portales won’t be in Scotland in time for this match.
Tony’s thoughts
“Bonnyrigg Rose are a very good side. They are managed by a good manager. Robbie Horn is very experienced and has done the job for a long time. They achieved their objective last year, like us, they were the newly promoted team and they finished 8th in the league with 42 points. They’ve got a reputation for starting their season strong, so we know we are up against a really strong opponent. We will give them the utmost respect.”
Owen Beck
“I can’t wait. It’s our first competitive game, so we know what we need to do, to go there and get the 3 points. No matter the difference in leagues, every game is a tough game and we need to go into every game with the thought of, we need the 3 points. I’ve got a feeling that they will make it hard for us, but we know what’s expected of us and hopefully we can go there and do the job.”
