Under 20’s Manager

Dundee FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Eddie Johnson as the Under 20’s Manager. Eddie has been head-hunted by Manager Paul Hartley as part of the backroom staff reconstruction at Dens.

Eddie came through the youth system at Manchester United and has represented England at the Under 16, Under 18, Under 19 and Under 20 levels. His form during his time at Manchester United earned him a place on the England Team in the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship where he played all three of England’s games against Japan, Egypt and Columbia during the tournament in the United Arab Emirates. In his senior career Eddie enjoyed spells at Coventry City and Crewe Alexandra before joining Bradford City in 2006. He went on to play for Chester City in Season 2008/09 before moving to the USA where he joined the Austin Aztex. Eddie finished his playing career with the Portland Timbers in 2012 and then returned to the UK.

Manager Paul Hartley has said, “Eddie has been scouting down south for Dundee FC the past few months and we are very excited that he has agreed to join our coaching team on a permanent basis. He is a great addition to our team and we look forward to utilising his football knowledge and experience”.

Managing Director John Nelms said, “Eddie brings a wealth of knowledge of the game and as is another great addition to Paul’s backroom staff. The young players will benefit greatly from his experience and professionalism on and off the park. He will not only manage the U20 but will help with first team analysis and liaise with associates down in England.”
