Under 18s lose out to Pars

Caird Park was the venue for our 18s league fixture against Dunfermline with Scott Robertson’s team looking to continue their good form. Six of our u16s were called into the match-day squad and Josh Mitchell starting in centre midfield.

Both teams had chances in a first half that saw two well-matched teams battle. Both teams tested the goalkeepers, who had to make good stops to keep the game even.

The closest to a breakthrough came as both teams smashed shots off the crossbar.

The second half saw The Dee have a chance to take the lead when the referee pointed to the spot for a penalty. Jamie Richardson stepped up but saw his spot kick saved.

The visitors took the lead after their experienced forward line took advantage of a mistake in the Dundee defence to capitalise and take the lead.

The Dee had lots of chances in the 2nd half putting in one of their best performances but couldn’t get the ball over the line.

The game ended with the Dees backline consisting of 3 of our u16s. The team put in a strong performance but were defeated for the first time this season due to one error that they will learn from and hope to bounce back next week.

Manager Scott Robertson said after the match, “That was our best collective performance of the season with some excellent individual performances throughout the team, Gregory and I are delighted with the players after the work we did in the week and the players applying it in the game.”

“The players are frustrated at taking nothing from the game as they felt the same way as we did, our best performance brings us our first defeat but that is football. Much more to be positive about from this performance than last week and we took a point from that game so progress is being made, we just need to show that ruthless streak at this age and stage to continue to develop as a group and as individuals. On to the next one”
