After last weekend off we are back in action this Saturday away to Partick Thistle, as second place takes on third place in the cinch Championship at Firhill, kick off 3pm.
On Saturday it will only be 18 days since the sides last met, with Thistle winning 3-1. Before this the last two meetings this season ended 3-2, the first in July in favour of Thistle and the second in November in favour of ourselves.
Partick are unbeaten in their last five matches having won three and drawn two. Their last game was last Saturday where they drew 0-0 with Morton at Cappielow. Since the last meeting between the sides, Kris Doolan has been appointed as First Team Manager after previously doing the role on an interim basis.
Team News
Cammy Kerr will still be missing on Saturday as he recovers from injury. A few players have come down with illnesses this week and a decision on them will be made nearer to the game.
The Manager’s thoughts
“We are going to the game just concentrating on ourselves, we’ve got to put on a performance which we didn’t do the last time we played them and we’re looking for a response from our players. I’ve already had that with them bouncing back and winning at Cove, and then we had a really good week last week.
“It’s important as it’s the next game, whatever game we play, we want to win and that doesn’t change, obviously we know we’ve got to do better than we did last time we played them. We’ve tried to work on that throughout the course of training and the spirit has been good amongst the players and they’ve trained really well.
“We’ve got nine games left, so we’ve got to focus on what we can control which is our preparation, our training, and then our attitude and effort in games, if we can do that the outcomes will look after themselves.”
Alex Jakubiak
“It’s a big game, we are going to go there to try and get a result, having played them not that long ago at home and having lost the game we just want to go and put things right.
“We know it’s important to win, we’ve got that mindset going into every game. We don’t want to look at teams in and around us, we just want to focus on ourselves and our performances and the rest will take care of itself.
“It’s always a different game whether it’s home or away, you’ve got to prepare the best you can each time. We know they are a good side, they beat us a few weeks ago, so we know what we are coming up against. We have been focussing on what we are going to do, and we are looking forward to it.”
