Manager Paul Hartley spoke after watching his team draw at home to Kilmarnock on Saturday. Faissal El Bakhtaoui gave Dundee the lead after just nine minutes but a spectacular overhead kick by Souleymane Coulibaly drew Killie level, the manager said of the draw, “I felt in the first half we just maybe needed that second goal, I didn’t see their goal coming but there is not a lot you can do about a finish like that.”
“Overall, I felt we could have been better in the final third, especially in the second half.”
El Bakhtaoui grabbed his first Dundee goal when he turned home Tom Hateley’s free kick, the manager was impressed with both players performances, “I thought he was excellent today, I thought his movement was good and he caused problems. He was a threat. Really pleased with him and pleased with Hateley also. I thought he had a good debut, he needs a bit of time to get going, he hasn’t played a lot of football recently, overall though we feel we should have won the game.”
Dundee played out the last eight minutes with ten men following Kevin Gomis’ red card and also lost Darren O’Dea to injury in the first half, “We kept two up and remained positive. O’Dea goes off and Gomis gets sent off for a late challenge so disappointing but we still looked a threat even when we went down to ten men.”
