Leighton leaves club

Dundee FC can tonight confirm that Leighton McIntosh has left the club.

Leighton was one of the youngsters who was forced to step up into the first team quicker than expected after the club’s administration in 2010. His time at Dens will be best remembered for the moment when he wrote his name into the club’s history books with the goal which ensured Dundee’s safety following a 25 point deduction.

Striker Leighton found himself fast tracked to the first team following admin and he made first team debut as a late sub against Morton in Dundee’s 1-0 victory.

He was a regular under Barry Smith until the end of the season and he found the net four times in three games to end his campaign on a high. Including the winner away to Ross County which secured the club’s 1st division status.

2011/12 saw Leighton feature over twenty times, scoring his only goal of the season against Ayr United.

Leighton featured in the SPL for Dundee the following season before a loan spell with Montrose. He played twice in Dundee SPFL Championship winning campaign this season past before a loan spell with Arbroath.
