An experienced Dundee reserve side beat Queen’s Park in the Reserve League this afternoon as Alex Jakubiak grabbed a first-half double in the 2-0 win at Lochinch.
Jakubiak was joined in the starting lineup by Harry Sharp, Luke Strachan, Finlay Robertson, Ben Williamson, Niall McGinn, and Shaun Byrne.
It was a dominant display from Dundee against a young Queen’s side with some impressive play.
Jakubiak opened the scoring after 10 minutes when Queen’s Park played out of defence and Dundee won it back, it was played quickly to McGinn who played in Jakubiak who made no mistake, slotting under Heraghty in the Queen’s goal.
Eight minutes later, Jakubiak grabbed his and Dundee’s second. He pressed Heraghty and won the ball inside the area before blasting into the empty net.
McGinn almost made it three after 25 minutes when his chipped effort beat the Queen’s keeper but came back off the bar.
Queen’s best chance came before the break when Connolly fired just wide from 25 yards.
After the break, the hosts came into the match more but failed to trouble Sharp with Dundee having the best of the chances.
Just before the hour mark and lovely move ended with Robertson hitting a shot that looked destined for the top corner but came back off the post.
The final chance of the match came when substitute Jamie Richardson fired wide after more good play from Dundee.
