Gary Bowyer spoke with us after last night’s match.
Speaking on winning the league. “It’s brilliant, it’s fantastic. Can’t give enough praise to firstly the staff. Arriving with a new manager and Billy coming in and staff obviously not sure what would happen, but we’ve worked very hard throughout as a group together. The players you know they’ve been on good all season. People expecting them just to go back up but it doesn’t happen like that, you have to earn it. You have to work very, very hard, and they’ve done that.”
Speaking on his players. “I’m delighted for the players and staff after everything they’ve been through this season. It was the majority of the group that got relegated and they had to change their mindset. The way they’ve gone about it, I’ve nothing but praise for them all.”
Speaking on the match against Queen’s Park. “I can’t remember any of it. Ridiculous! The goals we conceded were shocking but the goals we scored; Luke McCowan’s at the end, we’ve worked on that all week in training with Scott Patterson and the way it came off was brilliant. So was the resilience of our lads to go 1-0 up then get pegged back and go again. You couldn’t have scripted it any better.”
Speaking about the Dundee supporters. “I mean, all season they’ve travelled. People told me and said about how they travelled in their numbers and we experienced that on the very first away game. We’re delighted for them, I hope they are having a fantastic time back in Dundee, and long may it continue over the weekend, what a weekend to do it, the bank holiday weekend, fantastic.”
A big congratulations to Gary and all of his coaching staff.
