The team travels to Inverness on Saturday with three league matches remaining. Kwame Thomas’s 94th-minute equaliser against Morton on Saturday earned the Dee a hard-fought point and kept us leading at the top of the Cinch Championship. Last Saturday the team had to dig deep coming from 3-1 down to draw 3-3, which extended our unbeaten run to seven matches. The manager was extremely pleased with the fight that the players showed on Saturday, “Wonderful spirit from the players and character to keep going till the very end, it just shows you what they’ve got in that dressing room.”
Saturday’s opponents Inverness are currently on a great run, having won their last six league matches, sitting third in the table and in the Semi-Finals of the Scottish Cup. Caley have played one more league game than ourselves, after playing on Tuesday evening where they defeated Hamilton 2-1 away from home, the game being re-arranged because of Inverness’s semi-final against Falkirk next Saturday. Before Tuesday evening they had defeated, Cove, Arbroath, Raith Rovers, Morton, and Partick with their last defeat coming on the 18th of March against Queen’s Park. Their recent run of good form has taken them into the play-off positions but the Dee will be aiming to put an end to Inverness’s unbeaten run on Saturday.
The last meeting between the sides was only back in February with both teams having to settle for a point after a 1-1 draw. Dundee’s last visit to Inverness at the start of December was a historic one as it resulted in Dundee’s first-ever league win away to Inverness. Inverness have also tasted victory in this fixture this season, after winning 3-2 in the first league meeting of the season back in September.
Team News
Jordan McGhee will miss Saturday’s match after being ruled out for the rest of the season.
The Manager’s thoughts
On last week’s match against Morton. “It shows people the importance of having someone like Jordan in your team. I thought Barry Maguire came in and did ever so well in his place. But it’s a whole team thing and we have to defend better. That said: the lad scores an overhead kick and the other lad scores a worldy of a free-kick, it’s one of those days.”
On Saturday’s trip to Inverness. “The last time we played them at home we were really good. We had lots of chances and their goal came from a deflection. We need to go and impose ourselves on the opposition and look to improve from last weekend. But carry that spirit and fight we showed to come back from 3-1 down.”
On Kwame Thomas. “That’s what you want from your squad. You want people giving you selection problems and it’s always good to be able to call on someone from the bench like we did with Kwame.”
