Hearts – Match Preview

Hearts – Match Preview

Tomorrow, 3rd February, we will be back at The Scot Foam Stadium for the first time in 39 days. We have had five away games in a row and the players and coaches are looking forward to getting back home and playing in front of the Dundee fans.

Hearts come tomorrow only eleven days after the sides played each other in the cinch Premiership at Tynecastle. The Jambos came out on top eleven days ago and took the three points after a 3-2 win. Dundee led 0-2 at half-time through goals from Jordan McGhee and Lyall Cameron. However, Hearts came out much stronger in the second half and scored three goals through Nieuwenhof, Lembikisa and Oda. Both sides then won last weekend, Dundee defeated Livingston 1-4 away from home and Hearts won 2-0 at home to Aberdeen. Dundee then earned a point away to Aberdeen on Tuesday night whilst Hearts had no mid-week fixture. Hearts are on an eight match unbeaten run in all competitions and will come into today’s match full of confidence and currently sit in third place in the league table.

This is the second meeting of the sides at The Scot Foam Stadium this season, the first was back in August when Dundee won 1-0 and got their first Premiership win of the season through a fantastic Luke McCowan strike.

Team News

Diego Pineda, Antonio Portales, Aaron Donnelly, Ricki Lamie, Ryan Howley and Charlie Reilly will miss Saturday’s match.

Tony Docherty

“We’re really looking forward to Saturday’s game against a really good Hearts team. I think it’s going to serve up a cracking game. They are not 10 points clear in third place for no reason and I’m really impressed with the job that Naismith has done there.  They’ve got a style of play but they are adaptable within it. They’ll remember us at Tynecastle, particularly our first-half performance, so if we can bring that level of performance it will be a great game.” – Tony Docherty

Dara Costelloe

“We played them recently and we’ve definitely learnt the lesson from that match. We now know what’s expected of us and to kick on and not let that happen again.”
