- Partick Thistle were formed in 1876 and their first match was against a Junior team called Valencia
- Despite their name Partick Thistle play in the Maryhill area of Glasgow and haven’t played in Partick since 1908
- The first match between the clubs took place at Meadowside near the River Clyde which Partick won 3-1
- The Thistle Weir Youth Academy is run by former Dee Gerry Britton who had a short spell as caretaker manager at Dens in 2005
- Partick won the Scottish Cup in 1921 beating Rangers 1-0 in the Final
- The Jags most famous result is their 4-1 League Cup Final win over Celtic in 1971, with Thistle leading 4-0 at half time
- Goalkeeper Alan Rough has the most appearances for Partick making 624 between 1969 and 1982
- Partick beat Dundee 3-2 in the 1956 League Cup semi-final replay at Ibrox after a 0-0 draw in the first game
- Dundee were undefeated to Partick last season winning three times at Firhill and drawing 1-1 at Dens
- Dundee haven’t lost to Partick in the top flight since April 1994
- Partick won the last ever Tennents Sixes in 1993
- Partick competed in the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 1995/96 where they played in a five team group alongside Metz, LASK Linz, Keflavik and NK Zagreb
