  • ICT were formed as 1994 with the merger of two Highland League clubs Caledonian and Inverness Thistle when they joined the Scottish Football League
  • Originally called Caledonian Thistle, the name Inverness was added at the request of the Inverness City Council in 1996 in return for investing in the new stadium
  • Dundee played Caledonian Thistle in their 3rd ever game in a Coca-Cola Cup match at Dens which The Dee won 3-0
  • Dundee played Caledonian Thistle later the same season in the B&Q Cup quarter-final winning through on penalties after a 1-1 draw; Dundee’s only competitive win in Inverness
  • Dundee have played ICT competitively in six different grounds; Dens Park, Telford Street, Pittodrie Stadium, Tulloch Caledonian Stadium, Hampden Park and McDiarmid Park
  • Dundee first played a side from Inverness in 1897 when they beat Caledonian 7-1 in a Scottish Cup 1st round tie at Carolina Port
  • Dundee beat Caledonian 5-1 in the Scottish Cup in January 1963 after Bob Shankly climbed the Telford Street wall at midnight to check the pitch and went out and bought rubber soled boots in the morning to combat the frozen pitch
  • Dundee qualified for the UEFA Cup after beating Inverness CT 1-0 at Hampden in the 2003 Scottish Cup semi-final thanks to a late Giorgi Nemsadze winner
  • Dundee came from 2-0 behind to beat ICT 3-2 to win the ALBA Cup in 2009 at McDiarmid Park
  • Inverness CT’s highest ‘home’ attendance is 11,296 for a Scottish Cup tie with Rangers at Tannadice in March 1996
  • The only Inverness Caley Thistle player capped by Scotland is Andrew Shinnie who was on loan at Dundee from Rangers in season 2008/09 and again in 2010
  • All three of Inverness’ substitutes in their victorious 2014 Scottish Cup Final now play for Dundee, namely Nick Ross, James Vincent and Danny Williams
