Benedictus, Clarkson and Heffernan to leave club

The club can announce this afternoon that David Clarkson, Paul Heffernan and Kyle Benedictus will not be offered new contracts at the end of the season when their current deals come to an end.

Kyle came through the youth ranks at Dens and has been in and around the first team since making his debut at 17 years old against Airdrie United under Jocky Scott.

He spent time out on loan at Montrose before returning to be part of the Dee-Fiant squad who stayed in the 1st division despite a 25 point deduction.

2012/13 saw Kyle as a regular in the SPL and last season he played a big part as Dundee won the SPFL Championship title. This season he has been out on loan at Alloa where he still has one final game in the Play off Final this weekend.

Clarkson joined the club midway through the season and hit the ground running becoming the first player in the clubs history to score in each of his first eight matches. His goals played a big part in our season as we went on to clinched a top six place.

Heffernan joined Dundee in January and has turned out seven times for the club. His time at Dens will be remember for the third goal in April’s derby win when he turned home Greg Stewart’s cross to seal the victory.

We would like to thank all three players for their efforts while at Dens and wish them all the best in the future.
