19S BEATEN AT MONTROSE

Dundee’s unbeaten start in the SPFL under 19s league came to an end at the hands of Montrose on a windy afternoon at Links Park on Sunday.

Montrose took the lead through a neat finish from Andrew Pattullo after turning in the box.

Dundee hit right back and were level a few minutes later when Gary Duggan was played through by Dale Davidson, he rounded the keeper before firing into the net.

A defensive mix up let the home side retake the lead. Zak Wilson alert to nip in and slot home after a short goal kick. Wilson was on target again before the break. He drilled home after a blocked shot fell to him inside the area to make it 3-1 right on the stroke of half time.

Gavin Burns sent his Dundee side out to push higher up the park in the second half and it paid off right away. Greg Warwick got down the right before pulling the ball back for Duggan who found the net again, this time with a lovely curled effort.

Dundee dominated but couldn’t find a way through and when Warwick was judged to have fouled in the box, Montrose had a golden opportunity to seal the win. Sam Simpson sent John Bonnar the wrong way but hit the penalty wide of goal.

The young Dens Park side continued to push right until the final minute but couldn’t find a late leveller to keep their unbeaten start intact.

Dundee – Bonnar, Sivewright, Mollison, J. Black, C. Black, McHardy, Avolio, Davidson, Cameron, Duggan, Warwick. Subs not used – Allan, Colquhoun.
