Our Under 18s were back in action at home against Inverness Caledonian Thistle this week and were hoping to get back to winning ways after picking up one point from the last two games despite them putting in their best performance of the season last week against Dunfermline and taking nothing from that game.
This week’s match was a different story with the performance level not being at the same level as recent weeks but still managing to take a point from a difficult encounter.
The game was an even encounter in the early stages with neither team finding their stride before the 12th minute when Finlay Allan managed to feed Jamie Richardson with a quality weighted pass into his path after the opposing goalkeepers wayward clearance landed at his feet. With the goalkeeper recovering his defensive position in goal Jamie Richardson coolly slotted the ball home from 22 yards out with the keeper desperately attempting to keep the opening goal from crossing the line.
This was the only goal of the half despite Inverness’ pressure with dangerous crosses and set pieces creating moments of sustained territory however the defence managed to limit the attempts at goal and deal with what Inverness had to throw at them in the first half and the bulk of the second period also.
The 90th minute was when Inverness managed to snatch the equaliser and head back up the A9 with the point that on the balance of play was the least they deserved but was disappointing to come so late in the game after the solid and positive defensive display the Dundee players put in prior to the last minute equaliser.
We are back on our travels next week with an 8pm kick off away to Livingston.
