Manager on Peterhead win

Manager Paul Hartley was delighted with both the result and performance after watching his side progress in the League Cup with a 4-0 win over Peterhead at Dens, he told us, “Good first half performance, I thought we passed the ball well. We had good passages of play, I thought the intensity was good. Four goals and a clean sheet.”

“We’ve worked hard in pre-season in terms of what we want to do and how we want to play. There was glimpses of that today, especially in the first half.”

“There was good combinations, the movement was good so I was delighted with that.”

The boss saw three of his strikers hit the net on day one of the competitive action with Greg Stewart, Peter MacDonald and Luka Tankulic adding to Simon Ferry’s opener, it was something which also pleased him, he said, “It’s a key area to get off the mark as early as you can. Three of them have done that, Greg with a good goal then Luka and Peaso so delighted.”

Asked if he thought the 4-0 victory sets his team up nicely for the SPFL Premiership opener next weekend, Paul said, “Hopefully, it’s given us good confidence, we’ll have a normal week and build towards the Kilmarnock game.’
