Man City preview

After returning from their week long training base in Hungary on Thursday, the Dundee players will get their pre-season schedule underway this weekend with a visit of English Premiership Champions Manchester City.

The teams will be competing in the friendly for the Angus Trophy Centre Cup. The trophy was kindly donated by Craig Murray from the Angus Trophy Centre.

Manuel Pellegrini’s squad travelled North on Wednesday and will be based at St. Andrews throughout their stay in Scotland. On Saturday evening they will take part in an open training session at Dens from 7pm.

Those with match tickets will be able to gain entry to the training session.

The match and training session will see a host of international stars turn out at Dens, including Samir Nasri, Jesus Navas, Gael Clichy, Alvaro Negredo plus many more.

It will also give fans the first chance to see Paul Hartley’s squad in the build up to the 2014/15 Premiership season.

One absentee will be new signing Scott Bain. The goalkeeper was diagnosed with appendicitis during the squads camp in Hungary and had to stay behind. Goalkeeping coach Bobby Geddes stayed with Scott and they are set to fly home today following a routine operation.

Kyle Letheren hasn’t trained fully over the past week due to a calf problem but is set to make the City game. Our photo shows Kyle doing work in the swimming pool during the trip to Hungary.

Fans will have the chance to see the other new signings in action after they have been put through their paces over the past week. Phil Roberts, Kevin Thomson, Simon Ferry, Paul McGinn, James McPake, Paul McGowan, Greg Stewart and Gary Harkins are all set to play some part in the match.
