Last Meeting

Dundee stumbled to a 2-0 defeat against bottom club Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the final home match of last season. After The Dee’s place in this season’s Premiership was confirmed the night before, interim manager Neil McCann watched his team lose for the first time. The Dark Blues never recovered from gifting the visitors two early goals. Caley Thistle may have ridden their luck occasionally in the first half, but Dundee’s defence looked like conceding a goal every time Inverness attacked. In a poor second half Caley Thistle held onto their lead comfortably to take three well deserved points and ensure the relegation battle went to the final day.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s Season So Far

After relegation from the Premiership last season, Inverness Caledonian Thistle have struggled somewhat in the Championship and are well of the pace of the leaders and chasing down a play off spot.

Having dispensed with the services of Ritchie Foran in the summer, former Dee John Robertson returned for a second spell in charge at the Caley Stadium.

Despite being the top seeds Caley failed to get out their Betfred Cup group after beating Brechin and Forfar, picking up a penalty win bonus point against Stirling but crucially losing 2-0 at home to fellow Championship side Falkirk.

Their league campaign got off to the worst possible start when they lost 1-0 at home to Dundee United and followed that up with a 5-1 defeat to Dunfermline at East End Park.

Caley’s first league win came with 4-0 win at Brechin but they failed to win again until the middle of October when they finally got their promotion push on track with back to back wins over Dundee United and Dunfermline Athletic.

In the Irn-Bru Cup Caley knocked out Aberdeen U20s, Peterhead and Falkirk and now face Irish side Crusaders in the semi-final next month.

They have been unable to replicate their Challenge Cup form in the league with defeats to St Mirren and Morton and draws with Livingston (twice) and Queen of the South but a double win over Brechin and victory over Dumbarton kept the Caley Jags in touch with the fourth place play off spot.

Caley will come to Dens in fine fettle as wins over Falkirk and Queen of the South in their last two games have pulled Thistle within three points of fourth place.
