“Those fans today….wow”

Neil McCann watched his side keep a clean sheet and earn back to back wins in his first two matches at Kilmarnock on Saturday.

The new Interim Manager told us following the win, “When the players work so hard it makes my job easy. As I said before, you get nothing for nothing in life. Kilmarnock were never going to give us three points today, we had to earn them. The reason why we earned them is because everybody gave everything, and they’ve done that since I came in but with 100% effort you must have a quality to go with it.”

“I placed my trust in them to cross that line and carry out what we have been working on. Towards the end when you are hanging on cause they are throwing everything at you, I still trusted them to come through.”

Scott Bain was in fine form pulling off a number of saves to earn his clean sheet and Neil said of his keepers contribution, “Bainy came up with an unbelievable save but I expected it a wee bit. I thought it was going in but I expected him to make it because he is a top keeper and his attitude to not switch off, like every player who took the field today. 100% concentration was required and I thought to a man again, exceptional, I’m so proud of them.”

“All in all, it’s been a throughly brilliant week and it’s capped off, sometimes you don’t always get the rewards of your work that you put in and I’m so happy for them that they managed to get it.”

There was a special mention for the Dundee fans who again travelled in numbers and again gave amazing backing to the side, the manager said, “All those Dundee fans today….wow. It’s unbelievable devotion to come down again, away from home, to come in those numbers and support the team from the first to last minute, and they get their reward and they deserve it and the players showed the desire they have, I’m just ecstatic.”
