Caley preview

Dundee welcome Inverness Caley Thistle to Dens this weekend as both teams look to follow their cup wins last week with victory in the league, kick off 3pm on Saturday.

The club from the Highlands currently sit 2nd in the Premiership table and are on a good run of form, with only one defeat since the beginning of October which came at the hands of Celtic.

Midweek saw them join Dundee in the Fifth round of the Scottish Cup with an impressive victory over St. Mirren. Following a 1-1 draw in the original tie, Caley blew Saints away with a 4-0 win.

The clubs previous meeting this season came during the first week when Dundee travelled North on the Wednesday following the Premiership opener. The match ended in draw with neither side able to find the net.

Manager Paul Hartley spoke in the build up to the game of Caley’s form so far this season, he said, “Inverness have done brilliantly, they play a passing game and they’ve got very decent players, John Hughes has put that into them, he’s done a great job, this will be a tough game. Given their home results this season our 0-0 draw up there in the second game of the season looks a good result, lots of teams have lost up there since then.”

David Clarkson has the chance to equal the clubs all time record of scoring in consecutive games. The striker has so far scored in the last eight, and even more incredible feat give they are his first eight games for the club. The manager told the press, ‘We’d all love to see Clarky equal the club record, he’s been brilliant, having played with him I knew what he was like but you don’t imagine the goal scoring run he’s been on”
